Video Game Addiction

2. http://www.myarticlexposure.com/Article/Video-Game-Addiction--You-Better-Believe-It-/8272

Both of these articles deal with the issue of video games being addicting. This says that yes, video games do cause a form of addictiveness due to a chemical released in the brain when kids get excited while playing their video games. Video games are also addicting if kids play them too much. Even though this article starts off as seeming to agree that video games are addictive that point turns to show how video games can in fact be helpful to kids and aren't necessarily addictive if the right steps are taken. Video games can help kids learn and should be considered as just another part of a kids life, like sports and reading.

The second article deals with a particular case of a boy, Steve, who became addicted to video games, causing him to life an on-line based life and do bad in school. This article argues that video addiction is taking over and may be relatable to drug and alcohol addiction. It then goes on to show symptoms and effects of video game addiction, like playing for a large amount of time and getting carpel tunnel syndrome.

After reading both of these articles I'd say that article number one I'd agree with most. Video games, if played in moderation, and depending on the game can be beneficial to one's life. Players can learn skills, ideas, and concepts in a fun way. Yes addiction can occur if games are played too much for too long, but i think article number two shows that in too harsh of a situation. I do agree that the effects of playing video games too much can cause physical, emotional, and mental problems but it's a problem that can be fixed and not all video games or video game playing is bad. I agree with what both articles are saying but have to say that video game addiction isn't as big of an issue as alcohol and/or drug addiction.
